Volkswagen unveil their new Volkswagen Passat CC !!

Volkswagen Passat CC 2013 model coming soon to Gateway2Lease!

On sale early 2012, the sleek saloon has been facelifted, boasting a new front and rear look with new high-tech features available. At the front, a new bonnet, grille, bumper and headlights bring the Passat in line with the latest 2012 "look", mirroring that of the rest of the Volkswagen family. New lights, with LED detail and a newly reshaped bumper provides the rear with a fresh look. In addition, the new model has more sculpted side sills and new alloy wheel designs.

With regards to the interior, a fresh brown trim is available and a choice of either a three-seat bench in the rear, or the two-seat option. A fatigue detection warning is now fitted as standard along with a new easy open system, that allows the boot to be opened simply by the driver positioning their foot under the rear bumper. Under the bonnet, there are no changes, with the same choice of turbocharged 1.8 or 2.0 liter petrol engines or the 3.0 liter V6. The diesel options are the 138 or 158 bhp 2.0 TDI engines.

Prices are likely to increase slightly with these new changes, but Vollkswagen are still confirm. The new Passat CC goes on sale early next year, with first customer deliveries due approximately March. Keep posted, as Gateway2Lease will be launching new finance rentals towards the end of 2011.

Audi Launch the New A5 2012 Model Range!

What's changed on the new Audi A5 facelift 2012 models?

Audi have just launched the newly refreshed Audi A5 2012 range which include the A5 Coupe, A5 Sportback and A5 Cabriolet. We will show you exactly what's been changed, as well as including images of the preface-lifted models against the newly facelifed Audi A5 2012 models.

Audi A5 Coupe 2012 Model

The A5 Coupe has been updated both on the inside and on the outside. It has now got new headlights, a sportier bumper with mesh and extra grill detailing and rectangular front headlights which sit flush inside the bumper. The overall appearance of the new A5 Coupe is more sporty and dominant thanks to it being made ever so slightly more wider than the previous model.

The A5 Sportback has received some minor updates on it's exterior. Rear lights have been redesigned, the rear bumper is chunkier and LED lights are now available as an optional extra.

The exterior colours have also been refreshed, giving you a wider choice. There are now 16 different paint colour options. 17 inch alloy wheels also now come as standard but as an optional extra, wheels up to 20 inches can be chosen. The A5 Sportback is now optionally available as a 5-seater vehicle.

Interior

All of the changes within the A5 Cabriolet interior have been fairly subtle. A new steering wheel has replaced the old design and there is a new ignition key. The gear stick has also been updated for the automatic models and the air conditioning controls and displays are now illuminated in white.

Exterior

There is now a new range of interior colours, including new leather trims and paint options for the instrument panel. There is also 4 new colour choices for the hood of the A5 Cabriolet.

All A5 models get a CD player and 8 speakers as standard. The optional MMI Navigation system has been improved, with only half as many buttons as before and the voice-control system updated.

Engine Changes

The new line up for the A5 2012 model range consists of a choice of 3 petrol and 4 diesel engines. All of which will emit less C02 than the previous models.

The new engine line up includes the following;

1.8T FSI - Now provides 170bhp instead of 160bhp from the old model

2.0T FSI - Unchanged

3.0T FSI - A brand new engine addition. V6 supercharged pertrol providing 272bhp

2.0 TDI - Provides the same 177bhp as previous model but C02 and fuel consumption has been improved. It now does 60 mpg and emits 122g C02/km

3.0 TDI 204 - Is a V6 Diesel, providing 204bhp

3.0 TDi 245 - V6 Diesel engine, providing 245bhp

3.0 TDi Unknown - Revealed later on in the year, will have lower emissions.

All S5 model which include S5 Coupe, S5 Sportback and S5 Cabriolet are all now 3.0T FSI engines with 333bhp. This replaces the old 4.2 V8 engines. The new engine is more fuel efficient and produces less C02.

Mechanical Improvements

Audi's engineers have given the new 2012 A5 model range updated damper tuning and rear suspension bearings which will improve the ride and handling of the vehicles. All models have also received revised electromechanical power steering as standard.

Overall, the remodel for the Audi A5 range isn't massive but the few changes which have been made keep the range up to date giving a fresh and modern look. Regarding cost, prices have only risen a few hundred pounds which means you are getting a lot more kit and engine for your money.

Latest Car Finance figures show a positive increase

The market has indicated that there has been a positive increase in the take-up of leasing and personal contract purchase agreements for new cars as it has increased by 14% in the last 12 months.

The most recent car finance figures have shown a positive increase as it has reached an all-time high of 56% of new car sales using motor finance in May 2011. This is the highest increase since March 2009, reported by the Finance & Leasing Association, the trade body for the motor finance industry.

What personal finances do Gateway2Lease offer?

Personal Contract Hire is very similar to that of the business alternative. However, all that is different is that personal contract hire has the VAT added on to each monthly payment. It’s a fantastic product for an individual who wants fixed monthly rentals, making budget planning that much easier. It also allows the user to have the luxury of changing a car every 2 to 3 years without the hassle and financial risk associated with disposing of the vehicle. To take out a personal contract hire agreement, all you need to do is decided upon a vehicle; choose your annual mileage and the term of the contract. Once the contract is finished, you simply hand the car back to the finance company with nothing else to pay. You must insure that when the vehicle is handed back it meets the lenders return conditions. This can be found in our Fair Wear & Tear document.

Personal Contract Purchase is structurally similar to that of Personal Contract Hire but is a little more complex. It enables the customer to make fixed monthly payments; however, at the end of the contract they have the option of retaining the vehicle if they wish. When a contract purchase agreement is taken out, the customer pays a deposit once the term and mileage has been agreed on the vehicle. A Guaranteed Future Value is then established at the end of the term and mileage, this is often known in the industry as a balloon figure. The customer then pays the finance company the difference between the cost of the vehicle new minus the deposit and the Guaranteed Future Value. This essentially means that the customer funds the depreciation plus the interest on the vehicle. When the customer reaches the balloon stage of a Personal Contract Purchase, they have three choices. Firstly, they can pay the balloon figure and take full ownership of the vehicle. Secondly they can simply sell it and make a profit or thirdly, hand the vehicle back to the finance company.

Alan and Kelly from Gateway2Lease enjoyed a fantastic day out at Goodwood for the Festival of Speed, courtesy of Porsche. The Festival of Speed is the largest motoring garden party in the world - a unique summer weekend which brings together a diverse mix of cars, stars and motor sport "royalty". And a unique summer weekend it was. The weather was fantastic, the stars were spotted and the cars....well, they completed a perfect day in true celebration of motor sport and all things automotive. From 200mph supercars to steam-powered carriages from the 19th century, and from 3000bhp top fuel dragsters to classic rally cars, the Festival of Speed really does create an exuberant display of style, sound, smell and colour.

The 2011 theme was "Racing Revolutions - Quantum leaps that shaped motor sport" - celebrating speed, greater efficiency and....well, even more speed. This year marked 75 years since Auto Union won the European Championships with a ground breaking rear-engined car, 30 years since Audi Quattro heralded rallying's four-wheel drive and 20 years since a rotary-engined Mazda took the chequered flag at Le Mans. And so celebrations took place, fittingly, to hail innovations that have seen the racing automobiles develop and astonish. And all the legendary cars were there to see from the four-valve Peugeot to single seater Alfa Romeo Tipo B, fourwheel drive Bugatti Type 53 to gas turbine Lotus 56. Tackling the infamous 1.16 mile hillclimb, was everything from early Grand Prix to off-road and contemporary racers.

With the annual event now over for another year, Goodwood attracted 181,000 motor sport enthusiasts, as well as 100 star racing drivers. Celebrating drivers tackling the hillclimb included Lewis Hamilton, Jenson Button, Mark Webber, Nico Rosberg, Nigel Mansell and Sir Stirling Moss. In addition, the 50th anniversay of the Jaguar E-Type was marked with an astonishing 28 meter-high sculpture of one of the most iconic British sportscars. As well as the E-type a large selection of Jaguars took to the hill as Goodwood celebrated 60 years since the Coventry marque first victory at Le Mans. There were at least 5 vehicle display areas at the Festival of Speed where you could expect to see all manners of priceless roadsters. We were able unfettered access to all hillstart climb vehicles, stationed in their own paddock with their drivers, as their engines were started and prepared.

Nissan announce Qashqai production boost in UK!

Nissan have announced that the ne

w Nissan Qashqai will be designed, engineered and built in the UK. Not only does this represent a £192 million investment in Britain, funded solely by Nissan but a significant 6000 jobs will be safeguarded as a result of this new supply chain. Designs of the crossover will take place at Nissan's European Design Centre in Paddington, London. Engineers at the technical centre in Bedfordshire take over from there prior to the completed car being built at the factory in Sunderland.

Since 1986, the Sunderland plant has set important benchmarks for quality and efficiency in Europe and around the world, labelled as the home of the Qashqai, producing an average of 1,200 Qashqais per day. The Qashqai is said to be the biggest success from the Nissan product range, with export levels of around 80 per cent. In addition Nissan is investing £420 million in its Sunderland plant, aimed at the production of their Electric car, from 2013 onwards, and also the stand-alone facility to produce lithium-ion batteries, which will be used in both Renault and Nissan vehicles from 2012.

The Growth of Mini

Mini to introduce more than 10 new models!

BMW bosses have announced that the Mini brand are looking to introduce more than 10 new models, representing up to £500 million investment, produce what they have referred to as the "Third Generation Mini". Plans are also forming, for production to occur at the UK factory in Oxford from 2013 onwards.

A new platform for the build of future models, dubbed UKL, the key feature of which, is front-wheel drive, which will also be present on the new BMW hatchback. The Mini Coupe is due late 2011, closely followed by the new Mini Roadster in 2012. BMW have also vowed to produce a Coupe version of the current Countryman crossover. The concept design, Rocketman, is still under review, after being first revealed at March's Geneva show. A senior at BMW has communicated that several features of the Rocketman will be visible on future Mini, namely the lightweight technologies used and innovative door designs, but that there are no immediate plans to develop the Rocketman further than a concept vehicle.

As for the Mini Coupe, doors will open for orders in November 2011. The two-seater Mini will have a unique body and interior, whilst also being 3cm lower than the current mini hatchback. In addition to these desirable features, the coupe will also boast an active rear spoiler, high-opening tailgate and large luggage area. There will be in total four different variants of the Coupe - namely the Cooper, Cooper S, John Cooper Works and Cooper SD. Each will be offered with either a six speed automatic or a six-speed manual gearbox, with the exception of the John Cooper works which will be available as a manual only. Performance figures are set to be marginally better than the current line-up.

The second of Mini's two models will be the two-seater Roadster. Dubbed as the sister-car to the Mini Coupe, the roadster will fall within a similar bracket to that of the Mazda Mx-5 and Audi TT Roadster. It will also be build at UK's Mini Oxford plant. Based on the body of the current Mini Convertible, which has been re-engineered and both roadster and coupe share the same appealing A-pillars and lowered roofline. Where the roadster different from the coupe is the lightweight, manual canvas roof which folds down just prior to the rear deck lid. Designs surrounding the simple roof, are based on the need to produce a lightweight and uncomplicated vehicle. There's a significantly different paint finish expected for the Roadster too, in a white and gold scheme.

Audi TT named Best Coupe of the Year 2011

Audi's TT Coupe has retained it's crown as What Car's Coupe of the year, and has now stayed in pole position since 2007! The TT is acclaimed for it's good looks, high quality and is branded as a favourite model which is low cost in both owning/leasing and running. Boasting an impressive 4 out of 5 stars, Audi's Coupe is said to be wonderfully agile, beautifully build, quick with it's 211bhp petrol engine and desirably sporty, resulting in strong residuals.

They do advise that despite compromised back seat, the Audi TT is only really practical for two, however it is fun, safe and prides top marks in the Quality and Reliability Bracket. The TT Coupe range consists of a 2.0 TFSi 211bhp engine in a trio of specifications; the Sport, S-Line and Black Edition. These are then replicated across the 2.0 Tdi Quattro 170bhp engine. Finally they include two automatics options, in the 2.0 TFSI engine with added Quattro. It goes without saying that Audi's TT has been a huge success for the manufacturer.

Aston Martin produce their first 'City Car'

The Aston Martin Cygnet

The Aston Martin Cygnet. New, based on the Toyota iQ and costing £30,995, the Cygnet is seen as a break for Aston Martin into a new marketplace. It is the smallest of the Aston range, by a stretch, measuring in at only three metres long. As well as being the smallest, as expected, it is also the slowest in 50 years, achieving a modest 106 bhp, whilst it's 0-60 is twice that of any other Aston. Questioned as to why they should see the value in creating such a juxtaposing creation, Aston point out that owners of their other super cars, often have requirements for a nippy, inner-city alternative and preferring to drive a baby Aston than anything other.

In conjunction, and debatably more pressing, are the looming tax penalities which are bearing down on thirsty cars. The Cygnet has a combined fuel consumption of 54.3 mpg and 120 bhp co2 output, certainly offsetting some of Aston's less fuel-efficiency models.

So why, other than being loyal to the Aston brand, would you chose to pay £30,995 for the aristocratic Cygnet over the iQ which costs two-and-a-half times less. Well from a first glance, there is the unique glass-like paint finish, produced using the same paint process as an Aston costing £150,000! Then once you have stepping inside there is the unmissable comfort of the

hand-finished interior, with every finish covered in either leather, alcantara suede or top quality carpet. Aston have taken the components of aToyota and added it's own personal luxurious touch, adding bespoke metal automatic gearstick levers and delicate instrument graphics to name but a few. Aston have added a set of 16 spoke alloys, bespoke to their brand although the drive and wheels are the same as that of the iQ. A 97 bhp engine is certain

ly not without zest, and allows a sound cruising performance on motorways when required.

Another positive - the steering. Feather light and precise. Practical as a three seater, but with the ability to cater, when compromising boot space, for four. Sources say that 400 people, predominantly Aston owners, have already put their name on one, and the target is for a stret

ching 1500.

Self Breaking Cars!

With new advanced and cheaper automatic braking technology coming to the market, it is predicted that by 2013 auto-braking could become part of euro NCAP. As a result of new camera-based systems becoming increasingly more affordable, Thatcham, the Motor industry research centre are collecting a series of innovative and emerging technologies, reviewing each in order to demonstrate to the benefits to the industry.

New camera-based systems, such as those used by both BMW and Volvo, have evolved to such an extent, that they can now detect both cars and pedestrians, with brakes being automatically applied. Other manufacturers, have already officially launched similiar technologies such as Subaru, although at present, only cars can be detected. Others are expected to be officially launched within 48 months. Whilst Ford, have embraced a laser-based technology, available in the new Focus and Lexus also are due to introduced a similar system in 2012.

Thatcham have estimated that over 75% of accidents could be prevented as a result of these new devices, as they occur at speeds below 20 mph. It is said such technology could easily prevent such collisions happening and evidence already exists to support this claim. £2 billion could be saved and 150,000 deaths and injuries prevented.
