The 10th-Generation Honda Civic

 Published 4th January 2017
New Launches

In recent years, the Honda Civic has flown below radar, often over looked by customers who instead choose rivals such as the Vauxhall Astra, Ford Focus and Volkswagen Golf but all is about to change. Hail the 10th-generation Honda Civic 5-door which will be hitting roads early 2017.

The biggest improvement to the model is that it is significantly larger than it's predecessor. It now sits on a 2.7m wheelbase, providing extra leg room to the rear seats and a bigger boot, making it a practical small family car.

Inside, the interior has been improved with dashboard plastic getting replaced with new mock-leather. Features include a new instrument display positioned in front of the driver which can show items such as navigation instructions. Storage and space is also a big benefit of the new model, however the ‘magic seats' that feature in the current model aren't included this time around.

Three engines will be offered at the time of launch, two petrol engines and one diesel. The entry-level petrol engine will be a 1.0-litre which will provide 127bhp and C02 emissions likely to be under 100g/km. The other petrol engine on offer will be the more powerful 1.5-litre engine with break horse power of 180. The only diesel option to be offered will be a 1.6-litre engine which is said to have better C02 emissions and fuel economy than the current model.

Standard safety equipment will include stability control and automatic city braking. Features such as blind spot, traffic sign recognition and lane assistance will be optional extras. Three trims are expected to be on offer - the SE, SR and EX with a new Sport version added to the line up. Honda have already confirmed that the all-new Civic will be produced in it's British factory in Swindon.
