Get a ‘driving detox' with the new Vauxhall Mokka

New Launches

How has lockdown been treating you? Has it been a case of too much on the alcohol and too little on the exercise?

We know the feeling.

But here's something to give you a bit of a detox. It's the all-new Vauxhall Mokka.

Apart from that stylish new front end appearance which Vauxhall calls the ‘Vizor' - a million miles away from the Mokka X of old - there's a brand new digital user experience inside the car, which Vauxhall is calling the ‘Pure Panel'.

So pure, in fact, that Vauxhall reckons it can ‘detox the driving experience'. Which might be just the thing we're looking for at the moment.

So why is this new Mokka so special?

Well, let's start with those appealing looks: the front LED headlights frame the new Vauxhall Vizor grille which extends the full frontal area of the new car. It all stays pretty sharp at the rear, too.

Inside is that Pure Panel digital experience which you can view from your high up seating position within the Mokka. It consists of two wide screens of up to 10 and 12 inches. The central display is tilted towards the driver and the air vents are pushed to the background to bring even greater focus to the information in front of the driver. To the left are the driving enhancement controls, such as access to Apple CarPlay or Android Auto depending on your choice of smartphone.

This level of simplification has been taken to the design of the centre console which is clutter-free and clean thanks to the electronic parking brake as well as the new electric gear lever.

Talking of simplicity, for the first time the Mokka will feature an electric Mokka-e version. This exciting addition features a 50kW battery and a range of two hundred (and one) miles - we'll sure you'll be grateful of that extra mile one day! As part of the car's standard equipment is a 100 kW DC fast-charging system. What this means to you is that the battery can charge to 80% of its capacity within just 30 minutes on a fast charger. So if you get low on range, you should be able to charge up swiftly to get going again. But not so quickly you can't enjoy a tea or coffee while the battery is being replenished.

And don't worry, if an electric Mokka is not your thing, there will also be petrol and RDE2 compliant diesel versions of the new Mokka available as well.

We asked Stephen Norman, the managing director of Vauxhall Motors, for a comment, and this what he told us here at Gateway2Lease:

"New Mokka is the start of a new direction for the Vauxhall Brand. A bold new design with elements like Vauxhall Vizor and Pure Panel that will become part of a signature look for future models. It also encompasses everything that Vauxhall will define in the future. Fully electric from launch and packed with innovative technologies bringing the best of automotive mobility to all. Vauxhall may be Britain's oldest car manufacturer but with New Mokka it is defining itself to lead in an exciting and innovative future."

Now Mr Norman might be biased, of course, but at first glance of this compact SUV, we think he's pretty much spot on.
