Electric Vehicles  New Launches

We’d recommend you keep this one between us just in case you decide this is your perfect lease car. If everyone finds out you could find your name sitting on quite a long waiting list. When one of the most iconic carmakers in the world announces its most powerful production car ever, it might pay to get your order in quick. And that’s exactly what the recently unveiled Porsche Taycan Turbo GT represents.

Porsche has extensively upgraded the Taycan and increased the overall system power of the car. The Taycan Turbo GT and track-focused Taycan Turbo GT with Weissach package are the new sporting flagship models.

Although, if you want a back seat you’re going to have to restrict yourself to the Turbo GT. The Weissach package strips out a lot of stuff to reduce weight to make it a much more visceral driving experience.

Even though it has barely hit the market, the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT has already earned the title of fastest electric series-production car at Laguna Seca, in California, on 23 February 2024. With a time of 1:27.87 min. Porsche development driver Lars Kern put in a faster lap than any other driver has before with a road-approved electric car.

Not long before that, a pre-production version of this same new model set a new class record on the Nürburgring with a lap time of 7:07.55 min on the Nordschleife. This time also stands as the current record for series-production electric cars and also makes the Turbo GT the fastest four-door of any powertrain type on the Nürburgring.

That’s not a bad place to start. It’s not much of a surprise either when you take some of the numbers into account. A clever electrical system means both cars start with a base power output of 770bhp, which is quite a lot. Clearly, it’s not enough for Porsche though because there’s also a launch control system that momentarily boosts the power to a whopping 1092bhp. Surely, that’s more than enough power for what is, essentially, a four-door saloon.

It’s definitely enough to mean the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT needs just 2.3 seconds for the sprint from zero to 62 mph, or just 2.2 seconds with the Weissach package. The top speed of 180mph is also quite respectable, and if you tick the Weissach box on the order form you’ll get an even more respectable 190mph to play with. Despite all that power, the range of the Taycan Turbo GT models still sit in the region of 345 miles according to WLTP measurements.

The Taycan Turbo GT is equipped as standard with the dynamics package which includes the Porsche Active Ride suspension with GT-specific tuning. In addition, the equipment package includes special performance summer tyres mounted on 21-inch lightweight forged wheels. The exclusive Turbo GT wheels have relief-milled spokes, which saves weight and at the same time effectively ventilates the lightweight ceramic brakes.

Porsche has developed a front spoiler with aeroblades specifically for the Taycan Turbo GT while the rear boasts an adaptive spoiler. Matrix LED headlights come as standard due to their lighter weight but can be upgraded to HD matrix LED headlights on the Taycan Turbo GT at no extra charge. Both models bear the coloured Porsche crest on the front bonnet as well as on the hub covers of the lightweight alloy wheels. The ‘Turbo GT’ logo on the rear lid is painted in matt black and the car can be specified in a choice of six exterior colours.

Standard equipment also includes lightweight full bucket seats in a high-gloss carbon-weave finish with Race-Tex and black leather trim. Front Adaptive Sports Seats Plus with electric 18-way adjustment and memory package can also be ordered as a no cost-option. A Turbo GT logo is embroidered on the front headrests and a badge with the individual model logo is located below the climate control panel. The Taycan Turbo GT also features the Sport Chrono package from the Taycan Turbo S.

The new Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is available to order now with first deliveries expected to commence over the next couple of months.
