Leave the competition behind in the brand-new Volvo EX60

Leave the competition behind in the brand-new Volvo EX60

Published 16th February 2026

A seismic change is on the way. This summer will see the launch of a brand-new, all-electric mid-size SUV, and in terms of range, charging speed, and performance it promises to be a gamechanger in the largest segment of the EV market. And in contrast to the recent growth of Chinese brands, this new EV is the thoroughly Scandinavian Volvo EX60.

The five-seater EX60 is the first Volvo to take on the most popular segment of the electric SUV market, the mid-size family car. It promises to end the spectre of range anxiety, deliver a groundbreaking experience, and take Volvo’s already formidable reputation for safety to the next level.

In Volvo’s own words, “the EX60 turns range anxiety into range comfort and demonstrates that going electric is no longer a compromise.” Design, engineering, and the latest technology combine to create a premium electric SUV that optimises driving range to match many petrol cars.

Built on a new EV architecture, the Volvo EX60 applies Scandinavian design principles to the next generation of all-electric cars. As we’ve come to expect from a Volvo, it combines a stylish exterior with the low front, a sloping roofline, and tapered body that boosts aerodynamic efficiency. The long wheelbase favours comfort and stability at speed, and along with the flat floor it also creates plenty of rear legroom and a large luggage space to enhance its practicality.

The interior is airy and light, finished with high-end materials that create a calm, refined and versatile cabin with lots of clever storage solutions. Volvo has packed the EX60 with voice-activated AI assistance, a “no-lag” infotainment system with screens that respond instantly, a premium 28-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system which includes headrest speakers in all four main seats, and Apple Music pre-installed. You’ll also benefit from regular over-the-air updates, meaning your new Volvo EX60 will get better the longer you keep it.

And that’s on top of the usual list of LED headlights, 360° 3D camera, wireless phone charging, heated seats front and rear, plenty of USB-C ports, and a whole suite of driver assistance systems.

New technology also features heavily in the EX60’s all-electric powertrain

The Volvo EX60 is set to offer a best-in-class 503 miles on a single charge in an all-wheel drive car. That’s not just further than any electric car that Volvo Cars has ever created, but it also beats the competition and sets a new standard for its segment.

It doesn’t just promise to eliminate range anxiety either. Charging times are drastically reduced too. A quick coffee stop really is all you need to top up the battery and get back on the road. Plug it into a 400kW fast charger and the EX60 can add up to 211 miles of range in just 10 minutes.

When it arrives in the UK, the Volvo EX60 will be available with three different powertrain variants.

The range-topping P12 AWD is the one to choose if you want that class-leading range of up to 503 miles. It also just happens to offer around 680bhp and an impressive 0-62mph time of just 3.9 seconds.

The P10 AWD variant sits in the middle of the EX60 lineup, clocking in at a range of up to 410 miles, 510bhp, and a sprint time of 4.6 seconds. Even the entry-level P6 RWD variant generates a whopping 374bhp and sprints to 62mph in just under 6 seconds, and it still manages to deliver a very usable 385 miles of range.

Production is scheduled to begin this spring so we’re expecting Volvo to start finalising orders for the new EX60 very soon. First deliveries of the P6 and P10 variants will start this summer, with the P12 following soon after that.
