Porsche reveals the upgraded Taycan range
Published 14th July 2026
Porsche has announced a major round of updates for the Taycan, enhancing the driving experience, efficiency, and onboard technology across the entire range for the new model year. The changes introduce a more emotive, multisensory feel behind the wheel, greater long-distance capability, and a significantly upgraded infotainment system.
If you were looking for a way of reinforcing the Taycan’s position as one of the most advanced electric sports cars on the market, we think Porsche may have found it.
One of the headline additions is the new E-Shift system, which brings virtual gear changes to every Taycan model.
Porsche has engineered the system to mimic the sensations of a traditional performance gearbox, complete with shift-jerk feedback, gear-specific drag torque, and a virtual rev counter. Drivers can leave the system in automatic mode or use steering-wheel paddles to move through eight simulated gears, creating a more engaging and tactile experience that blends classic Porsche character with modern electric performance. The Taycan Turbo GT comes equipped with E-Shift as standard, while other models can specify it as an option.
For drivers seeking even more capability, Porsche has introduced a Manthey Kit for the Taycan Turbo GT with the Weissach Package. Manthey upgrades have long been associated with Porsche’s GT models, but this is the first time the brand has offered such a package for an electric car, and the first time it can be ordered directly from the factory.
The kit includes aerodynamic, chassis and powertrain enhancements, and has already proven its effectiveness with a Nürburgring lap time of 6:55.533 minutes, setting a new benchmark in the electric executive car category – and who cares what anyone else in the office thinks about the aggressive body kit and enormous spoiler on the back?

Efficiency has also taken a step forward for long distance travel
Rear-wheel drive Taycan models can now be fitted with new low-rolling-resistance summer tyres, which increase range by up to 12 miles. When paired with the Performance Battery Plus, the Taycan can now achieve a WLTP range of up to 435 miles, making it more suitable than ever for long-distance business travel.
For drivers who regularly cover motorway miles, this improvement strengthens the Taycan’s appeal as a premium EV that combines performance with genuine usability.
Inside, Porsche has introduced a new generation of infotainment built around the Porsche Digital Interaction interface.
The system features a cleaner, more modern design, faster processing power and a highly detailed 3D vehicle model that mirrors the customer’s car. Widgets can be customised much like a smartphone home screen, and the Themes app allows the cabin’s digital environment to be personalised with different colour worlds and lighting moods.
Voice control has been upgraded with AI-supported natural language processing, enabling more conversational commands and follow-up questions without repeating the ‘wake’ phrase. The system also supports a wider range of third-party apps, improved smartphone integration, and faster wireless phone charging.
These updates underline Porsche’s commitment to evolving the Taycan as both a performance car and a long-distance EV.
For business-leasing customers, the combination of improved range, enhanced driver engagement, and a more intuitive digital experience make the latest Taycan an even stronger leasing proposition.
With the 2027 model year now available to order, the Taycan continues to set the pace in the premium electric segment, offering a blend of technology, refinement, and driving pleasure that few rivals can match.
