Kia EV day reveals broad range of new models

It’s hard to believe how far Kia has come in such a short time. Ten years ago the brand had a market share of 2.98%; press fast forward and today that market share is 7.76%.
That’s impressive growth, and the confidence of the brand is continually growing. In 2015 Kia launched the brilliant Sportage which has been fundamental to that brand growth. And now you can lease the seven-seater EV9 (2024 World Car of the Year) - along with the latest Sportage model of course.
And just recently, Kia held what it calls an EV Day. The sort of day many car manufacturers would love to have - the day when Kia revealed three new models to fuel further growth and provide a range of new models for a growing customer fan base.
So what is Kia EV Day?
Kia’s 2025 Kia EV Day took place at the end of February at Tarraco Arena in Tarragona, Spain. It followed on from the first Kia EV Day in Korea in 2023 and was designed to showcase the brand’s latest electric models, concepts, and technologies in sustainable mobility.
This included its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) that enables many levels of flexibility thanks to its modular design features.
What was on show?
Kia’s 2025 EV Day marked the global debut of three important new models.
- The Kia EV4: an all-electric saloon or hatchback model
- The Kia Concept EV2: An exciting small SUV EV that slots in below the EV3.
- The Kia PV5: Kia’s first dedicated PBV model (commercial vehicle) unveiled in Cargo, Passenger, WAV and Crew versions
So let’s have a look at these new models in more detail
Let's start with the Kia EV4, which was shown as both a saloon model and as a hatchback - and not as an SUV. The design features show a low nose and a swept up tail treatment, a reflection of Kia’s ‘Opposites United’ design philosophy.
There’s a choice of a 58.3kWh standard battery and a 81.4kWh long-range option. Kia says the 58.3kWh battery will offer 267 miles on a charge, while the bigger, long-range battery provides a very healthy 391 miles and can be topped up to 80% in just over half an hour on an ultra rapid charger.
The new EV4 is built on Kia’s dedicated 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP) - that’s the same platform that’s used for the EV6 - with a front-mounted 150kW motor delivering 0-62mph performance of 7.4 and 7.7 seconds respectively.
Kia says the new EV4 will be available in the second half of 2025.
Moving on, the Concept EV2 is an SUV to sit below the EV3 offering a direct rival to cars such as the Citroen e-C3, Fiat Grande Panda and the like.
The outside is attractively rugged in its SUV styling while Kia says the interior features a spacious multi-configurable interior, along with a rear-hinged back door to suit active urban lifestyles.
“The Kia Concept EV2 represents a bold step forward for the future of urban mobility,” said Kia President and CEO, Ho Sung Song at the unveiling. “With the Concept EV2, we challenged ourselves to create a vehicle that defies expectations, offering innovative technology and practicality beyond its size. This concept previews Kia’s future vision to redefine the segment, bringing a new level of sophistication and usability to urban drivers. It's a clear signal of our dedication to making electric vehicles truly accessible for everyone."
“This looks a really exciting addition to the Kia range,” added Rob Marshall, Operations Director of Gateway2Lease. “It should bring an affordable and highly practical - not to say funky-looking - car to a broader range of users, making an electric vehicle more attainable.”
Expect to be able to lease the EV2 from Gateway2Lease in 2026.
The Kia PV5 is a new commercial vehicle that can be easily adapted to a variety of uses, including delivery, utilities, and ride-hailing. It's also suitable for hospitality and trade as a people mover.
The PV5 offers a lot for van users, with the ability to charge to 80% in 30 minutes and built in fleet management data solutions, which includes route optimisation. The MPV version of the PV5 is said to offer a range of 249 miles.
Kia will be showing the new PV5 at the CV Show which runs from 29 April to 01 May. For fleet and business van operators, it will be the first opportunity to have a really good look at this exciting newcomer to the commercial vehicle world. We can’t wait.
