Fiat Professional's new small van includes an electric version, the E-Doblo, for the first time

A new Fiat Doblo small van is now available for the professional trades and van fleets, with the Fiat Professional brand promising business users increased volume, efficiency and flexibility.

There's also a pure electric Fiat E-Doblo available for the first time, for businesses and fleets looking to cut their CO2 emissions without compromising on day-to-day practicality.

The new Fiat E-Doblo has a 50kWh battery delivering a range of up to 175 miles – and rapid DC charging capability is standard, for charges to 80% capacity in 30 minutes.

An ingenious Fiat Professional Magic Plug gives operators the ability to use the battery's electrical energy for power tools or other appliances: ideal for when working off-site.

The core Fiat Doblo line-up offers a leasing choice of 1.5-litre BlueHDi 100 manual or BlueHDi 130 auto diesels, or a 1.2-litre PureTech 110 turbo petrol.

Impressively, all three powertrains boast the same 800kg payload, 1.0-tonne towing capability and at least 3.44 metres of load length.

Fiat's fitted a good haul of standard safety tech, to help businesses and fleets meet duty-of-care requirements. There are no fewer than 18 autonomous advanced driver assist systems, or ADAS, and an optional Magic Mirror which uses two exterior cameras to give the driver three different rear views on a 5.0-inch digital rear-view mirror.

Other options normally only available to those leasing luxury executive cars include adaptive cruise control, which varies the Doblo's speed to the vehicle in front, plus lane-keep assist and blind spot detection.

Both the Fiat Doblo and Fiat E-Doblo are available in regular van guise, along with long-wheelbase maxi van and crew van configurations. There are two model grades too, Standard and better-equipped Primo.

The regular Fiat Doblo Panel van has an overall cargo volume of 3.3 cu m and an external length of 4.4m. Long-wheelbase maxi versions have a cargo volume of 3.9 cu m and an external length of 4.75m; the crew version is the same length and has a cargo volume of 3.5 cu m.

The Fiat Doblo and E-Doblo have an extra trick up their sleeves, too: an optional ‘Magic Cargo' feature. This allows users to either carry up to three people in the front seats, or raise the seat on the passenger side and use the space underneath for boxes or fragile objects.

Fiat Professional says that it's concentrated on acoustic comfort in the new Doblo, and especially the E-Doblo, with far lower noise levels inside the cabin than previous Fiat Doblo vans.

Prices for the core new Fiat Doblo start from £18,855 + VAT, with the Fiat E-Doblo costing from £30,335 + VAT.
