Volvo chases affordability with new EX30

With the addition of the new EX30 electric SUV, Volvo has launched its most accessible EV yet. The Swedish firm will offer the compact SUV at less than £33,000 - aiming directly at leasing customers who would normally be looking at petrol, diesel, or hybrid compact premium SUVs.

Three versions will be offered, with the single motor model offering the headline price above. This still offers a range of 214 miles from a 51kWh battery, and single motor that produces 272hp.



A single motor extended range model gets the same power plant, but a larger 69kWh battery for the top range figure of 298 miles on a charge. Finally, there's a twin motor Performance version with the same 69kWh battery, but a motor on each axle boosts power to 428hp.

EX30 trim levels of Plus and Ultra will be available from launch, and Volvo will introduce a Core entry-level trim at a later date.



Standard specification at launch includes a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, climate control, parking sensors front & rear, Harmon Kardon sound system, heat pump, heated front seats and steering wheel, and 11kW on-board charger. Ultra upgrades include a 360-degree parking camera system with Park Pilot Assist, panoramic sunroof, 20-inch alloys, electric front seats, and 22kW on-board charger.

The Volvo EX30 can be leased now for delivery in the first quarter of 2024.
