BYD extends range with compact Atto 2 SUV
Published 7th February 2025
Chinese manufacturer BYD is extending the range of its electric cars in the UK with the launch of the Atto 2.
The Atto 2 is a compact SUV at just under 4.31m in length and promises to offer more affordable access to electric vehicles for business and private drivers alike.
It fits between the BYD Dolphin and the Atto 3 in the current BYD range, while typical rivals are the Vauxhall Frontera and the Kia EV3.
The launch Atto 2 will have a range of 193 miles from its Blade Battery with Cell-to-Body construction, while a longer range model is promised further down the line.
The front of the vehicle features integrated full-LED headlights and slim daytime-running lights, which together with the bright trim of the front grille gives the ATTO 2 a strong visual presence.
The sides of the ATTO 2 have lower cladding to give the car a rugged SUV appearance, although it is a front-wheel drive car with 174hp from its 45kWh battery.
At the rear, a distinctive roof spoiler sits above a full-width light bar that joins ‘Chinese knot’ tail-lights that look like the number 8 and a Mobius Infinity Ring, signifying - says BYD - endless good luck.
The interior features a clean unfussy appearance dominated by the central display panel which can be swivelled between landscape or portrait formats depending on driver preference.
The BYD Atto 2 will be available from Gateway2Lease this month when the car is launched in Europe.
