Striking new Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo

You can either drive something special, something practical, or something electric: which would you choose?

You'd be mildly unhinged not to choose all three, especially if it means you get to sit behind the wheel of one of the most striking cars available today - the new Porsche Taycan Sport Turismo.

This new model is aimed at people who want to combine the everyday usability of the more rugged-looking Taycan Cross Turismo with the dynamic handling of the Taycan sports saloon. The first member of the Taycan Sport Turismo family, the GTS will be launched at the end of February, with further models following in mid-March.

The Porsche Taycan GTS Sport Turismo gives you the electric equivalent of almost 600bhp to play with, all-wheel drive for astonishing grip, and all with absolutely zero emissions. The models to follow are the 400bhp rear-wheel drive Sport Turismo, a 500bhp all-wheel drive 4S Sport Turismo, and the two traditionally but misleadingly named Turbo models. Obviously there are no turbos, but as the “Turbo” has always been the range-topper for Porsche we'll allow it, especially as the Turbo and Turbo S Sport Turismo boast around 680bhp and 760bhp respectively.

The Taycan Sport Turismo shares the sporty silhouette, rearward-sloping roof line and functional design of the Taycan Cross Turismo.

It loses some of the more off-road design features for a cleaner, more aerodynamic look, and unlike the Cross Turismo it's available with rear-wheel drive. You get more interior space too. As well as the large tailgate providing much more boot space than the saloon version, there is also more headroom for both front and rear seat passengers.

That extra headroom gives you the chance to admire the brand-new panoramic roof with sunshine control. Unfortunately, this doesn't control the amount of sunshine outside the vehicle, but it's an amazing addition to the interior.

The large glass surface is divided into nine sections that can be individually controlled. This means that specific sections or the entire roof can be made transparent or opaque so you can remove glare, but the interior remains filled with light. There are predefined patterns with narrow or wide segments, and it even has a dynamic roller blind setting when you slide your finger over an image of the roof in the display.

The Taycan Sport Turismo also boasts cutting edge technology in terms of comfort, safety features and infotainment. There is even an option for you to remotely control entering and leaving a parking space without being in the car. Automatic control is possible for parallel and perpendicular parking spaces as well as garages. The system automatically detects a space and measures it with the aid of ultrasonic sensors and a camera.

You also get full smartphone connectivity and improved voice pilot system that is now even better at understanding instructions in normal speech. There is also a feature on the navigation system to filter charging stations by class so you can always find the best possible charging option wherever you are. Find a high-capacity charger and you can add an impressive 60 miles of range in around 5 minutes thanks to Porsche's high-capacity electrical system. Even taking the batteries from 5% all the way back up to 80% only takes a little over 20 minutes.

If you're now dithering over leasing one , you may as well accept that there isn't really a good reason not to and just give us a call.
