Nissan launches long wheelbase Townstar van

New Launches

Nissan's Townstar range has been stretched with the addition of a long wheelbase version of the compact LCV, available in both Petrol and all-electric versions.

The new Townstar L2 grows in length to just over 4.9m - an extra 426mm - which also allows the fitting of a wider side door, offering dimensions that get close to vans in the class above.

Load area increases from the standard-length Townstar's 3.3m3 to 4.3m3, and payload increases up to 800kg, with a 1,500kg towing capacity retained. The electric version gets a WLTP-rated range of 171 miles combined; 242 miles in urban areas. That's possible from a 45kWh battery that can be charged at up to 80kW from compatible CCS rapid points for reduced charging times.

Power comes from a 90kW electric motor, all of which is shared with the Renault Kangoo E-Tech and Mercedes-Benz eCitan. The petrol version uses a 1.3-litre four-cylinder unit, producing 130hp.

All models carry over the full-width bulkhead and 60:40 split rear doors from the Nissan Townstar L1 model, and Nissan's safety suite is fitted including surround monitoring, blind spot warning, and ProPilot driver assistance systems. Nissan also offers a five year/100,000 mile warranty.
