Celebrating a hat-trick with the upgraded Audi Q7

New Launches

For the third year in a row Audi has topped the charts as the leading premium car brand in the UK. More than 135,000 new Audis took to our roads in 2023, and no doubt many of them are being driven by lease customers. Audi is now aiming to cement the number one spot as 2024 marks the beginning of its largest model initiative in history. Over the next three years a whole host of new models will be revealed, and what better place to start than with an improved and upgraded flagship: the Audi Q7 SUV.

Audi has upgraded its flagship family SUV with a refreshed design and the latest technology. Alongside the redesigned exterior you’ll find new LED laser headlights, new wheels, new colours, and enhanced specification.

The exterior has been significantly tweaked, reducing some of the more decorative elements to create a more minimalist look. The grille has been redesigned and the headlights have been repositioned to create a new front end that emphasises the Q7’s powerful appearance. Entry-level S Line models have been given new side air intakes in the front bumper to give it an even sportier look. New HD Matrix LED lights and digital OLED rear lights complete the makeover.

All new Q7 models will now feature the Matrix LED headlights as standard with range-topping Vorsprung versions also benefiting from Audi laser light technology. Each light cluster contains a laser diode that becomes active at 43.5mph to significantly increase the high beam range. The new headlights lights also incorporate digital daytime running lights that allow you to choose from four different light signatures via the infotainment system.

As part of the Q7 upgrade, Audi has also refined the specifications.

The brilliant Audi virtual cockpit has been enhanced to now display warning information in full HD quality. Audi is also expanding the range of apps so now you can directly use popular apps from third-party providers (for example, Spotify or Amazon Music). Three new paint finishes allow you to further personalise the exterior look, with the range of metallic finishes now including Sakhir Gold, Ascari Blue, and Chilli Red. New alloy wheel designs up to 22 inch have also been introduced to the line-up.

As part of the model update, three highly specified core trim levels are available across the Q7 line-up:

  • S Line,
  • Black Edition,
  • and Vorsprung.
An exclusive Launch Edition will also be available in limited numbers from the market introduction, sitting between the Black Edition and the Vorsprung model.

Standard equipment in S Line models now includes Quattro all-wheel drive, adaptive air suspension, Matrix LED headlamps, rear-view camera, leather upholstery, electrically adjustable heated front sports seats with 'S' embossed logo, Audi Virtual cockpit, climate control, privacy glass, and handy electric tailgate function.

Stepping up to the Black Edition adds larger 21 inch matt grey Audi Sport wheels, sport adaptive air suspension, and a black high gloss package plus with black rings.

The flagship Vorsprung trim receives the new HD Matrix LED headlamps with Audi laser light, a panoramic roof, all-wheel steering, and larger 22 inch  black metallic Audi Sport wheels. Inside, an extended leather pack, B&O Premium Sound System, four-zone climate control, a head-up display, and front seat ventilation and massage functions also feature as standard.

When it comes to making the new Audi Q7 move you’ll have an initial choice of two diesel and two petrol options. We say initially because Audi is aiming to create an electric version of every model in its lineup over the next few years so there may well be a plug-in hybrid or all-electric Q7 arriving at a later date.

In the meantime, the updated Q7 range opens with the 45 TDI quattro, a 3.0-litre diesel engine that develops around 230bhp, accelerating the car from 0-62 mph in 7.1 seconds and on to a top speed of 140 mph.

The next step in the lineup is the 50 TDI quattro, a more powerful version of the same 3.0-litre diesel engine with 280bhp, a 0-60mph time of 6 seconds and an increased top speed of 150 mph.

Petrol options start with the 3.0-litre six-cylinder engine found in the Audi Q7 55 TFSI. The turbocharged V6 generates around 340bhp which translates to 0-62mph in 5.6 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 155mph.

All V6 engines in the Audi Q7 also boast enough torque for a towing capacity of up to 3.5 tonnes, an eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox, quattro permanent four-wheel drive, and a 48v mild-hybrid system.

And if you fancy a little bit more than those engines can offer, look no further than the range-topping Audi SQ7 TFSI.

As part of the product upgrade, the SQ7 now utilises the well-established 4.0-litre TFSI engine. With just over 500bhp to play with, as well as a fast-shifting eight-speed Tiptronic gearbox and quattro permanent all-wheel drive, this engine option will hurl you to 60mph in around 4 seconds before hitting the electronic limit at 155 mph.

As well as the massively powerful engine under the bonnet, SQ7 versions also feature a few extra upgrades. The looks have been enhanced with a redesigned spoiler at the front, an expressive diffuser, oval double tailpipes at the rear, and 22-inch wheels as standard. To keep all the power under control the SQ7 also gets bigger brakes, upgraded suspension components, electromechanical active roll stabilisation to keep it level in the corners, and a sport differential with torque vectoring for maximum grip from the all-wheel drive system.

UK sales of the enhanced Q7 SUV line-up begin March with first customer deliveries in May. Which means you haven’t got an awful lot of time to decide which model you’d like to lease if you want to park the latest Audi Q7 on your drive before the neighbours get a chance to beat you to it.
