Company Fleet  Electric Vehicles  New Launches

If you’re running a business you might be thinking about leasing a new van – or even a fleet of vans if your business is growing nicely. The Vauxhall Vivaro range has been a popular choice for many, and it’s clearly a good one. Registration figures for this year show the Vivaro is the UK’s best-selling electric van and the current model has recently added ’Best Medium Electric Van’ in the 2024 What Car? Awards to the long list of accolades it already boasts. It won’t come as much of a surprise if the new Vauxhall Vivaro has even more to offer then.

Vauxhall has announced sales of the New Vivaro and Vivaro Electric are scheduled to start by the end of this year. It will go on sale in two trim levels: Prime and Pro.

Both versions are available in two lengths (4.98m and 5.33m) providing up to 6.6m3 of cargo volume and 1.4 tonnes of payload. For added versatility it will also be offered as a double cab option, and a platform-chassis for a variety of body types.

As well as being both versatile and practical for daily use, the New Vivaro range also brings a stylish new look with the addition of the characteristic Vauxhall Vizor front end. The design of the Vizor grille extends right across the front of the new models, features the new Griffin logo in the centre, and if you opt for the Pro trim level it also includes integrated LED lights.

Better interior for new Vivaro

The interior of the new Vivaro range boasts an updated cockpit that now includes a new infotainment system with two 10-inch colour screens and wireless smartphone connectivity as standard. In addition, the storage spaces around the instrument panel and the centre console have been enlarged to make it easier to stow everyday items.

As well as offering levels of comfort and handling similar to those of a car, Vauxhall has also added 18 advanced driver aids to the new Vivaro line-up. Standard features on entry-level Prime versions include High Beam Assist, Intelligent Speed Assist, Lane Keep Assist, Driver Attention Alert and Advanced Emergency Braking. There’s also an option to add Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go function too.

Pro versions add Front Park Assist, a Flankguard detection system that will warn you of any fixed obstacles, power-folding exterior mirrors, and a new perimeter alarm system. Pro versions also include Vauxhall’s new Dynamic Surround Vision system for even safer manoeuvring. This uses two high-definition cameras – one above the rear doors and one under the passenger side mirror – with the images being displayed in the new digital rear-view mirror so you can always see if there’s anything hidden in your blind spots. The system can be specified on Prime variants as an optional extra as well.

The new Vivaro range can be specified with efficient diesel engines offering power outputs ranging from 120bhp up to 175bhp, but Vauxhall is really concentrating on singing the praises of its award-winning electrified versions.

Electric Vivaro offers over 200 miles on a charge

The new Vauxhall Vivaro Electric is fitted with a 75kWh battery to give you an emissions-free range of up to 217 miles, an increase of around 12 miles over the outgoing model. Power comes from a 100kW electric motor that generates 135bhp and 260Nm of torque so shifting a full load should be effortless. It features three driving modes (Normal, Eco and Power) and also utilises a regenerative braking system for maximum efficiency.

Another new feature is the ability to use the Vivaro’s battery as a power source for other electrical devices. Unique in the medium-sized van segment, this works via a 400v “e-Power Take-off Unit” which can be connected to the vehicle to supply power to smaller tools or fridge units for cooled vans.

Overnight charging is handled via the standard 7.4kW onboard charger which can be upgraded to an 11kW option if you choose. Plug it into a public fast-charging station and you can top up the new Vivaro’s battery from 5%-80% in just 45 minutes.

The Vauxhall Vivaro was already a best-seller. When you include updated looks, increased versatility and practicality, new technology inside and out, and the extended all-electric driving range, you’d be hard pressed to come up with a reason not to lease one for your business.
