What Happens on Delivery Day
Your new vehicle is scheduled for delivery – here’s what to expect on the day. This guide will help you understand the process and make sure everything goes smoothly.
Delivery Location
Your vehicle will be delivered by the supplying dealership to either:
- Your home address
- Your workplace
On the day of delivery, the driver will usually contact you in advance to confirm the exact time.
Pre-Delivery Inspections (PDIs)
The supplying dealership completes a Pre-Delivery Inspection (PDI) before delivery. This ensures the vehicle is in excellent condition and that any requested extras have been fitted.
Insurance
Ensure that your fully comprehensive insurance is active for the day of delivery. Once the handover is complete, the vehicle becomes your responsibility.
The Vehicle Handover
During delivery, the driver will:
- Conduct a walkaround of the vehicle, highlighting key features and controls
- Record the delivery mileage (if the car has been driven to you)
- Answer any questions about the car’s operation, technology, or safety features
This is your opportunity to familiarise yourself with the vehicle and confirm everything meets your expectations.
What to Inspect
Before signing any paperwork, check the following carefully:
- Registration number to ensure it matches your order
- Exterior – paint, glass, mirrors, wheels
- Interior – seats, trim, controls
- Extras - handbook, keys, wheel nuts, tyre repair kit or spare tyre
If anything is incorrect or missing, do not sign the handover documents and contact Gateway2Lease on 01299 407 360 immediately.
