MINI Countryman Electric breaks 300-mile barrier as range update boosts business appeal
Published 17th February 2026
The MINI Countryman Electric has received a significant range upgrade, strengthening its credentials as a viable option for business and fleet users seeking a compact electric crossover with improved long-distance capability.
From March 2026 production, the MINI Countryman E will deliver a WLTP range of up to 307 miles on a single charge; meanwhile the all-wheel-drive Countryman SE ALL4 will offer up to 287 miles. The increase is the result of a series of technical refinements rather than a full powertrain overhaul, allowing MINI to improve efficiency without altering the vehicle’s core packaging or usability.
Key changes include the introduction of a new silicon carbide inverter, which improves energy conversion efficiency and reduces power losses. This is supported by an increased usable battery capacity of 65.2 kWh, along with friction-reduced wheel bearings on the front axle to lower rolling resistance. Together, these measures enable the Countryman Electric to travel further between charges while maintaining consistent real-world performance.
For business users, the timing of the update is notable. The MINI Countryman Electric now qualifies for the full £3,750 government Electric Car Grant, reducing acquisition costs and improving total cost of ownership for salary sacrifice schemes and company car drivers. Combined with the extended range, this makes the Countryman Electric a more practical proposition for higher-mileage users who previously may have discounted compact EVs.
Beyond range, the Countryman Electric continues to offer strong everyday usability. Boot capacity extends to 1,450 litres with the rear seats folded, while interior space and seating flexibility support both family and business use. Advanced driver assistance systems enable up to Level 2 autonomous driving functions, contributing to safety and driver comfort on longer journeys.
The update applies to vehicles delivered from March 2026 onwards, with existing model positioning unchanged. By combining a meaningful range increase with grant eligibility and established MINI brand appeal, the revised Countryman Electric further broadens its leasing relevance for businesses transitioning to electric mobility without moving into larger SUV segments.
