New look Kia Niro strengthens its case as a practical business and fleet choice

New look Kia Niro strengthens its case as a practical business and fleet choice

Published 26th February 2026

The updated Kia Niro shows the brand’s continued focus on offering a flexible electrified crossover that can suit both business and fleet users.

The latest 2026 Kia Niro offers hybrid, plug-in hybrid and fully electric powertrains available from the same platform. Kia positions the Niro as an option for drivers and organisations transitioning towards lower-emission mobility, without sacrificing space, usability or everyday practicality.

The current Niro range gives fleets a clear choice of electrification levels

Kia Niro Hybrid

The Niro hybrid pairs a 1.6-litre petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 141 PS.

Kia Niro PHEV

The Niro plug-in hybrid increases combined power to 183 PS and offers up to 65 km of electric-only driving on the WLTP cycle, which can cover many daily business journeys without using fuel. It’s an ideal option for business drivers who prefer the back up of a petrol engine, while still delivering low benefit in kind during the current tax year.

Kia Niro EV

For zero-emission driving, the fully electric Niro EV delivers up to 285 miles of range from its 64.8 kWh battery, with strong real-world usability for mixed urban and motorway use.

Charging performance on the electric version is designed to support business use, with a 10 to 80 per cent rapid charge taking around 43 minutes under optimal conditions. Navigation-based battery conditioning helps prepare the battery ahead of a charging stop in colder weather, improving consistency of charge times. The EV also offers vehicle-to-device capability, allowing the battery to power tools or equipment when needed, which may appeal to mobile workers and those with outdoor pursuits.

Across all powertrains, the Niro benefits from Kia’s third-generation K platform, which has been engineered specifically to support electrified drivetrains. The platform improves torsional rigidity and allows batteries to be positioned to optimise weight distribution, contributing to a stable and comfortable drive. Suspension and steering tuning has been revised to suit the different powertrain layouts, helping maintain consistent handling across the range.

Practicality is a Niro strong suit

Practicality remains a core strength. With the rear seats folded, cargo capacity reaches up to 1,445 litres in the hybrid, 1,342 litres in the plug-in hybrid and 1,392 litres in the EV, with the electric model also adding a small front storage compartment. This makes the Niro suitable for business users who need flexibility for equipment, samples or luggage, while still operating within a compact crossover footprint.

Inside, Kia has focused on usability and technology, with twin digital displays, a head-up display option and a wide range of driver assistance systems available. Connectivity features allow fleet drivers to transfer user profiles between vehicles, which may be particularly useful for pool cars or shared-use fleets. Sustainable interior materials are also used extensively, aligning with many organisations’ environmental policies.

With multiple electrified options, predictable running costs and a strong practicality profile, the refreshed Kia Niro continues to position itself as a versatile solution for businesses and fleets seeking to reduce emissions without committing to a single powertrain strategy.
