New Toyota C-HR+ range revealed
Published 26th January 2026
If your next lease is likely to be a mid-size SUV, your timing could be absolutely perfect. There are already plenty to choose from, but your choice is about to get even better with the introduction of a brand-new model you may already be familiar with. It might look similar, and share a similar name, but that’s just a cover for the all-new, all-electric Toyota C-HR+ range that has just gone on sale in the UK.
Although sharing the C-HR name with Toyota’s plug-in and self-charging hybrid SUVs, the Toyota C-HR+ is a new model in its own right. Built on the same platform as the larger Toyota bZ4X, this allows the C-HR+ to offer even more cabin and load space than the Toyota C-HR hybrids, alongside the full EV experience.
The exterior design is clearly influenced by the coupe-inspired lines of the Toyota C-HR that shares the name, featuring the same sharp angles, swooping roofline, and stylish looks. The interior is a light and open space with a low, horizontal dashboard design, similar to the clean, contemporary layout of the new bZ4X. Easy and intuitive access to vehicle information, systems and information comes via a fully digital infotainment system with a 14-inch touchscreen, coupled with a few reassuringly physical switches for frequently used functions.
Choice of three different models from the C-HR+ range
Toyota is specifying the new C-HR+ in three versions from launch, all featuring front-wheel drive.
C-HR+ Icon
The entry-level ‘Icon’ features a 57.7kWh battery and offers a driving range of up to 284 miles from a single charge. The new C-HR+ line-up is completed by the ‘Design’ and ‘Excel’ trim levels, both of which are equipped with a higher capacity 77kWh unit, enabling an expected range of up to 376 miles. Regardless of choice, all three variants offer more than enough range for the average commute, making it an ideal option for your next family car.
In terms of specification, the equipment levels across the range are more than generous and should offer you all the features you need.
The base model, ‘Icon’ is equipped as standard with 18-inch black metallic alloy wheels, an 11kW onboard charger, seven-inch digital combimeter, 14-inch multimedia touchscreen, and a heated steering wheel. Alongside the usual smartphone connectivity, the new C-HR+ comes with two wireless chargers as well. Standard safety and driver assistance systems also include a Blind Spot Monitor with Safe Exit Assist, which warns if a door is being opened into the path of traffic approaching from behind.
C-HR+ Design
Move up to the ‘Design’ grade and, as well as the higher capacity 77kWh battery and extra range, you will also add a power-operated tailgate, rear privacy glass, and the option to choose larger 20-inch alloy wheels.
C-HR+ Excel
At the top of the range, ‘Excel’ variants come equipped with a 22kW onboard charger for faster charging, electrically adjusted driver’s seat, headlight cleaners, and a Panoramic View Monitor to help navigate tight spaces. The ‘Excel’ also adds an enhanced safety and assistance package that includes Front Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Change Assist and touch-sensor controls for the Lane Trace Assist system. An optional Premium Pack includes a JBL audio system and panoramic roof is also available.
