The brand-new Alpine A390 offers something different

If you’re considering leasing something a little different from the norm, you’ll be pleased to hear that patience shouldn’t be much of a requirement. Well, if you can wait another few months that is. The second model in Alpine’s fully electric Dream Garage – the all-new Alpine A390 – will be available to order soon with first deliveries beginning sometime in spring.
The Alpine A390 brings the legendary brand’s unmistakable DNA into an entirely new segment, delivering the agility and feel of a sports car with the everyday versatility of a five-seat fastback, as well as the latest all-electric powertrain.
Three versions will be available from launch, each wrapping its stylishly contemporary body around Alpine’s all-new optimised electric architecture. All three also feature Alpine’s unique Active Torque Vectoring system, with two independent motors on the rear axle giving the A390 the ability to precisely control torque at each wheel for exceptional agility, balance and responsiveness.
Alpine A390 model range
The entry-level - and take that label with a pinch of salt – ‘GT’ is the least powerful option, generating a mere 400bhp and sprinting to 62mph in 4.8 seconds. The more powerful ‘GTS’ variant produces closer to 470bhp for a 0–62mph time of just 3.9 seconds. At launch, you can also specify the ‘Premiere Edition’, which is based on the ‘GT’ but sits between the two as a high-spec celebration version, although it is limited to just 390 examples so you’d better not hang around if you want one of those.
The A390’s high-performance 89kWh battery delivers up to 345 miles of range, with DC charging of up to 190kW allowing a 15–80 per cent charge in around 25 minutes. An 11kW on-board charger is fitted as standard, with a 22kW unit available as an option (or fitted as standard if you get your hands on the Premiere Edition).
Inside, the A390 features a refined and immersive cockpit with a strong focus on driver engagement, as you would expect from a performance-focused brand like Alpine.
Two high-definition screens – a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and 12-inch central display – offer Alpine-specific graphics, Google built-in services, an EV route planner, and over-the-air updates to keep the technology fresh. There is also a choice of Alpine Sport or Sabelt bucket seats depending on trim, on top of the unavoidably practical things like seating for five and a generous boot space with optional double floor feature.
The range starts with the aforementioned Alpine A390 GT with 20-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels and Michelin Sport EV tyres, 6-piston monobloc front brake calipers, adaptive LED Matrix headlights, a body-coloured roof, and power tailgate.
The interior features a two-tone combination of Alcantara and Nappa leather in deep blue and grey with double stitching, a black headliner, heated and powered sport seats, dual-zone automatic climate control with air purification function, heated steering wheel, a frameless auto-dimming interior mirror, centre console with transmission buttons inspired by the A110, and interior ambient lighting. Alongside the latest infotainment system, the standard technology package also boasts a high-fidelity audio system, wireless smartphone connectivity, and a host of driver assistance systems including automatic lights and wipers, adaptive cruise control, and a 360° camera with parking sensors all round.
The A390 Premiere Edition adds 20-inch alloy wheels in a black painted matte finish, a contrasting black roof, eight-way powered and heated front seats with genuine two-tone Nappa leather and massage function, Alpine’s Driving Pack with Active driver assistance and hands-free parking, and the uprated 22kW on-board charger.
The line-up is completed by the range-topping A390 GTS featuring 21-inch diamond-cut forged wheels with high-performance Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres, front brake calipers painted in “Rouge Racing”, interior headliner in black Alcantara, driver and passenger eight-way powered and heated memory seats with genuine two-tone Nappa leather and massage function, the Alpine Telemetrics Expert, as well as the Driving Pack that is fitted as standard.
With its blend of expressive design and bespoke electric performance, the Alpine A390 marks the next step in the brand’s transition to a fully electric future – a future that you can be part of if you decide to lease an Alpine for yourself.
