Polestar 3 Breaks Guinness World Record with 581-mile single charge run

Published 22nd September 2025

The Polestar 3 has officially entered the record books - not for speed, but for stamina. The Swedish brand’s large electric SUV has set a new Guinness World Record for the longest distance travelled by an electric SUV on a single charge, clocking up 581.3 miles across UK roads without stopping to recharge.

The feat was achieved in a standard Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor model, with no modifications. Fitted with 20-inch wheels and Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres, the SUV was driven by a trio of professional efficiency drivers — Sam Clarke, Kevin Booker and Richard Parker — over a 23-hour period, navigating public A and B roads, dual carriageways, and a variety of real-world driving conditions, including rain and road closures.

Crucially, the car not only surpassed its official WLTP range of 438 miles, it still had 20% battery remaining at that point, eventually driving a further 143 miles before reaching a charger at 0% battery. Its average energy consumption for the journey was recorded at 19.5kWh/100 miles (5.13 miles per kWh), a figure that demonstrates just how efficient large electric vehicles can be when driven with care.

The entire attempt was closely monitored and verified by Guinness World Records, with full data supplied by Webfleet, including GPS tracking, battery diagnostics, and video footage. The AA also supported the run for safety and backup if the vehicle needed assistance once the battery was depleted.

For fleet managers and business buyers, the implications are significant. The record-setting performance underscores just how far EV technology has come and particularly for premium, long-distance company vehicles. Matt Galvin, Polestar UK Managing Director, described the achievement as proof that long-range electric driving is no longer a theory, but “perfectly achievable with minimal fuss.”

The Polestar 3 also supports rapid charging up to 250kW, allowing a 10–80% recharge in around 30 minutes, making it a practical choice even for high-mileage users. It joins a growing number of electric models pushing the limits of range anxiety and redefining what’s expected from zero-emission vehicles.

As Clarke, Booker, and Parker pointed out — the car may have been pushed to its limits, but it returned the favour. For a large SUV to deliver that level of efficiency and range, in real-world conditions, is a milestone moment for electric mobility.
