Updated BYD Seal - get more for your money

Updated BYD Seal - get more for your money

Published 17th March 2026

Anyone who has been through the leasing process in the last year or so could probably tell you that the UK car market is a bustling place. New brands are arriving, which are adding an expanding array of cars to the already considerable range of options we’ve long enjoyed.

More choice equals more competition, and more competition means more power, more tech, more style, and more money left in your pocket. A perfect example being a car that has barely been on the market for three years, was already offering more than many of its rivals, and is now offering even more: the newly updated BYD Seal.

The BYD Seal only launched in the UK in 2023, but despite being pretty much bang up to date already, the new 2026 version is taking the class-leading technology, practicality and design of the current model to the next level.

More importantly, while the current model may have been updated to the next level, the current price tag has stayed in exactly the same place. Lease yourself a 2026 BYD Seal and you will literally get more for the same money.

So what’s in the updated BYD Seal?

New models feature a series of updates to enhance its appeal, boasting new design highlights inside and out, extra technology, greater storage capacity front and rear, and an expanded range of paint colours to choose from.

Exterior details include a new design of 19-inch wheels that promise a more assertive stance, and at the rear of the car, the BYD logo now sits centrally above the full width LED light bar, with the Seal badge at the bottom right of the boot lid.

Three new exterior colour options:

  • Ruby Red,
  • Obsidian Black
  • and Lavender Grey

also join the existing shades of Polar White, Indigo Grey and Atlantis Grey.

The interior gains a sleeker appearance, featuring seats that are still trimmed in soft Nappa leather upholstery but with a clean new design to the headrests and centre armrest. The 2026 Seal’s enhanced interior equipment and technology levels are likely to set the standard for the segment too.

New additions bring a Driver Monitoring System, which can detect the driver’s attention on the road, and a Bluetooth key that enables access to the car via a smartphone-based keyless entry system.

As before, Design trim specification covers LED headlights with High Beam Assistant, a panoramic glass roof, a 12-speaker sound system, two 15-watt wireless charging trays, front seats which are electrically adjustable and feature both heating and ventilation, plus a fixed 15.6 inch high-definition touchscreen. The Excellence trim boasts even more on top of that.

There’s also greater space, more practicality in the updated BYD Seal

Practicality has also been improved by maximising the luggage space available within the BYD Seal’s existing 4.8-metre footprint.

The boot has grown from 400 litres to 485 litres and gained a pair of tethering hooks to secure loose items. The boot is also accessible by a powered tailgate as standard. The updated model also makes the most of the extra storage an EV can offer by not having an engine under the bonnet, with its redesigned 72 litre storage area large enough to hold charging cables, or even a carry-on suitcase.

The new BYD Seal also offers two powertrain options – a single motor for the Design trim, and a dual motor for the Excellence.

The single motor powertrain drives the rear wheels, giving a maximum output of 308bhp and 360Nm of torque, resulting in a 0-62mph time of 5.9 seconds. The two-motor, all-wheel drive configuration develops 523bhp and 670Nm of torque. That equates to a 0-62mph time of just 3.8 seconds, and you also get semi-adaptive suspension with variable frequency dampers to keep the additional power in contact with the road surface. Both powertrains are also limited to a top speed of 112mph.

BYD’s industry-leading blade battery also remains a feature of the updated Seal. The 82.5kWh battery pack offers a range of 354 miles for the Design trim, and 323 miles for the Excellence. Rapid charging up to 150kW peak speed means a 10%-80% recharge should take around 37 minutes.

And if it just so happens that the newly updated 2026 BYD Seal – that you can order right now - is packed full of even more technology for exactly the same price your neighbour leased one last year… well, we’ll leave that little act of diplomacy in your capable hands.

Come this way for the latest leasing deals on the updated BYD Seal.
