Chery officially enters UK market with Tiggo 7 and Tiggo 8 Hybrid SUVs
Published 8th August 2025
Chinese carmaker Chery has officially launched in the UK, introducing two plug-in hybrid SUVs — the Tiggo 7 Pro e+ and Tiggo 8 Pro e+ — as part of its plan to become a mainstream player in the European market. With pricing starting from £29,995 and an expanding dealer network already in place, the brand is targeting private and fleet customers alike with a sharp focus on value, efficiency, and practicality.
The compact Tiggo 7 Pro e+ offers a 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with twin electric motors, delivering a combined 201bhp and up to 56 miles of electric-only range. That makes it comfortably suitable for typical business commutes under electric power alone, with the reassurance of a petrol backup for longer journeys. Equipment is generous across the board — including a 24.6-inch dual screen layout, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, 360° cameras, heated seats, and level 2 driving assistance.
For those needing more space, the larger Tiggo 8 Pro e+ steps up with a premium seven-seat layout and near-identical electric range. Claimed combined fuel economy is over 200mpg, and the total driving range nears 765 miles — making it one of the most efficient long-distance hybrids in its class. It also gets a panoramic sunroof, Sony audio, and a suite of safety tech including adaptive cruise control and auto lane centring. Both models are expected to sit in the 8–9% BIK bracket, qualifying for significant company car tax savings.
Chery’s arrival follows the recent UK debuts of its sub-brands Omoda and Jaecoo, but this is the company’s first time operating under its own name. It brings with it more than 20 years of manufacturing experience and a proven export track record across the Middle East, South Africa, and Latin America. All models sold here come with a seven-year/100,000-mile warranty, and the brand claims to already have 50+ UK dealers signed up, with servicing and support integrated into the launch.
With prices undercutting rivals like the Kia Sportage and Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV, and strong specs as standard, Chery’s plug-in hybrids could quickly gain traction among fleet managers and salary sacrifice users looking for low-emission family SUVs with good value leasing rentals.
