Denza confirms UK pricing for new Z9 GT and BAO 5 SUV

Published 7th August 2026

If you’ve been following the Gateway2Lease blog, you may have come across our recent post explaining exactly who, or what is Denza. Well, here’s the most up-to-date answer we can offer. Denza is the Chinese carmaker that has just announced UK pricing for the Z9 GT and BAO 5, the first two models to spearhead the brand’s introduction to the UK market. Both models introduce Denza’s premium, technology-focused approach, combining high-performance, long-range capability and extensive standard equipment.

Originally founded as a joint venture between China’s BYD and Germany’s Mercedes-Benz back in 2010, Denza is now wholly owned by BYD and positioned as the group’s dedicated premium marque, sitting between its popular mainstream models and the ultra-luxury Yangwang division.

And these new models aren’t playing at being premium, they’re the real deal.

The Denza Z9 GT

The Z9 GT shooting brake is the head-turner of the two, with prices from £95,000 for the DM plug-in hybrid and £105,000 for the fully electric version.

It boasts a sleek shooting-brake silhouette with a low, elongated roofline and clean, aerodynamic surfacing that emphasises its performance focus. Distinctive lighting signatures and sharp detailing give it a modern, premium look, while a wide stance and sculpted rear end reinforce its high-performance character.

The Z9 GT also debuts Denza’s advanced chassis system featuring dual-chamber air suspension and Vehicle Motion Control with 10-millisecond response times. And it comes packed with clever technology such as a rear-axle steering system that enables crab walking, a 360° compass turn and gives the car a turning radius of just 5.35 metres – which makes the legendarily tight turning circle of a black cab look positively amateurish at a whopping 7.62 metres, and the Z9 GT is considerably bigger than the black cab too.

Inside, all models feature Nappa leather upholstery, heating, ventilation and massage functions for front and outer second-row seats, a 1150W Devialet audio system with Dolby Atmos, and a dual-mode refrigerator. Optional extras include digital side mirrors, 21-inch alloy wheels and a choice of seven exterior colours, including two matte finishes.

The Denza Z9 GT arrives with a choice of two powertrains, and this is where the price tag starts to sound a bit more…reasonable.

The fully electric model produces a colossal 1140bhp from its three-motor layout, delivering 0–62 mph in 2.7 seconds and a 373 mile range from its 122kWh battery. That’s supercar performance from a fully loaded, five-seat shooting brake with massaging seats and a built-in fridge.

The DM plug-in hybrid will follow later, combining a 63.82kWh battery with a 2.0-litre turbocharged engine for a total output of 765bhp. It offers up to 126 miles of electric-only driving and a combined range of up to 500 miles. Both the hybrid and all-electric versions also feature Denza’s game-changing ultra-fast Flash charging technology.

Denza BAO 5

By contrast, the Denza BAO 5 is a premium SUV with prices that start from a mere £69,500 in Elegance trim and £78,880 for the Ultimate. But don’t worry, it’s not as if you’ll be missing out if you decide to “slum it”.

The BAO 5 has a rugged, upright exterior, a wide stance, high ground clearance and strong lines. Elegance models feature 18-inch alloy wheels, fixed side steps and integrated roof rails, while the Ultimate adds 20-inch wheels and electrically deploying side steps for an even more premium feel. A choice of seven exterior colours, including metallic and matte finishes, allow you to personalise its ruggedly sophisticated appearance.

The BAO 5 SUV adds two more trim levels to the Denza lineup alongside the new Z9 GT.

Entry-level Elegance models feature a 15.6-inch infotainment touchscreen with Google built-in, three digital displays, leather upholstery, heated and ventilated front seats with massage, heated rear seats, an 18-speaker Devialet audio system and a panoramic sunroof. Moving up the range to the Ultimate trim adds 20-inch alloy wheels, electrically deploying side steps, upgraded Nappa leather, ventilated rear seats and a second wireless charging tray.

Both BAO 5 variants use the DMO Dual Mode Off-road plug-in hybrid powertrain, delivering a touch over 530bhp from dual electric motors and a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine. The system supports electronic differential locks, rapid torque distribution and 16 off-road driving modes. On-road performance is equally strong, with 0–62 mph in as little as 4.8 seconds, while the 31.8kWh Blade Battery provides up to 56 miles of electric-only range and up to 100kW DC charging.

With high levels of standard equipment, advanced chassis technology and strong performance across both new models, Denza’s UK debut places the brand firmly in the premium electrified segment. And judging by those numbers and the extensive specification, premium might be something of an understatement.

The Z9 GT and BAO 5 both offer strong leasing potential thanks to their combination of contemporary styling, high performance, long-distance capability and extensive standard equipment. The Z9 provides either long-range EV driving or efficient plug-in hybrid flexibility, while the BAO 5’s hybrid powertrain delivers up to 56 miles of electric-only use and a combined range of 519 miles.

With both new models offering competitive running costs for their size and performance, Denza’s first UK arrivals present a rather appealing dilemma for anyone thinking of leasing themselves a seriously impressive set of wheels.
