Is this the look of your next MG?

Is this the look of your next MG?

The Goodwood Festival of Speed is used to seeing its fair share of production car debuts, so this year MG decided to do something different. Instead of simply showing off its latest production cars, the brand used the famous Sussex event to unveil two concept models that hint at where MG plans to go next. And judging by the reaction, these early glimpses of MG’s future could end up shaping the cars many of us will be leasing over the next few years.

MG has always had a knack for blending heritage with innovation, and the two concepts revealed at Goodwood — the MG Go! and the MG Cyber Concept — show just how seriously the brand is taking its next chapter. Both cars draw inspiration from MG’s sporting past, whilst simultaneously embracing the electric future that’s rapidly becoming the norm for UK drivers.

MG Go! Concept Goodwood Festival of Speed

MG Go! concept

The MG Go! is the smaller of the two, a compact electric hatchback that previews a production model due in 2027.

MG describes it as retro-futuristic, and it’s easy to see why. The design nods to some of MG’s most expressive mid-20th-century models, particularly the MGB GT, but it avoids the pitfalls of nostalgia. Instead, it feels fresh, playful and deliberately simple, built around a handful of key design elements that give it charm without clutter.

Designed entirely at MG’s London studio, the Go! aims to bring emotional appeal back to everyday cars. It’s intended to be light, engaging and instantly likeable — a small EV with personality rather than just another hatchback. MG says it wants the Go! to stand out in a crowded segment, and if the production version stays true to the concept, it could become one of the more distinctive compact EVs available to lease in 2027.

MG Cyber Concept

The MG Cyber Concept takes things in a very different direction, and it’s a far more dramatic one.

This is MG’s vision for a future D-segment performance SUV, inspired partly by the legendary EX181 land-speed record car. The Cyber Concept blends MG’s sporting heritage with the practicality and versatility expected from a modern electric SUV.

MG’s goal is performance without compromise in a car that can handle long journeys, daily commutes and spirited drives with equal confidence. The proportions are bold, the stance is athletic, and the sculpted surfaces give it a sense of movement even when it’s parked. It’s a reminder that electric SUVs don’t have to be sensible boxes; they can be exciting, emotional and genuinely desirable.

MG’s design leadership is clearly thinking big. The Cyber Concept embodies that ambition, and if MG brings even part of this design to its future production SUVs, leasing customers could have some very interesting options on the horizon.

Goodwood wasn’t just about the concepts, though. MG also brought its sensible head, showcasing its growing range of plug-in hybrid, hybrid and fully electric models and delivering a reminder of the present alongside that little glimpse of the future.

The line-up included the new MGS9 plug-in hybrid, MG’s first seven-seat large SUV, and the MG4 EV Urban, a compact electric hatchback that has already earned praise for its space, technology and value. Joining them were the award-winning MG HS plug-in hybrid, the MG ZS Hybrid+, the technology-focused MG IM5 and the striking MG Cyberster, the electric roadster that reimagines MG’s sporting heritage for a new generation.

For leasing customers, the message from MG at Goodwood was simple: the breadth of MG’s electrified range is becoming increasingly hard to ignore - you can see all our MG leasing deals here.

The brand is evolving quickly, and the next generation of MG models will be more expressive, more technologically advanced and more emotionally engaging than ever before. Whether you’re looking for a compact electric hatchback, a practical family SUV or something with a bit more performance, MG is positioning itself as a brand that can deliver all three.

The MG Go! and MG Cyber Concept may be early previews, but they offer a compelling glimpse of what MG plans to bring to the road over the coming years. If the production versions stay true to the spirit of these concepts, MG’s next chapter could be one of its most exciting yet.
