Jaecoo 7 Black Luxury Edition adds bold new styling to an expanding model range

If you’re considering your next lease and want something with a bit more presence than the usual mid-size SUV, the brand-new Jaecoo 7 Black Luxury Edition is likely to catch your eye. The Jaecoo 7 Black Luxury Edition brings, as you might suspect from the name, a full black styling package to the plug-in hybrid SHS-P model and gives UK drivers a more distinctive, premium-leaning option without straying from the value that has defined the brand’s success so far.

Taking the existing Luxury trim as its foundation, Jaecoo has gone all-in on a monochrome theme with grille, badges, mirrors, roof, alloy wheels, and roof rails all finished in black, while the interior gets a matching black headliner and sun visors. Even the C-pillar badge carries a black “Luxury” emblem, giving the car a high-end look that stands out immediately. It’s a simple idea executed with confidence, and it gives the Jaecoo 7 a more assertive character.

And if you specify the optional Basalt Black paint finish rather than the silver option or the standard white, you can add sinister to its list of character attributes as well.

Underneath the styling, the SHS-P plug-in hybrid powertrain remains unchanged, which is no bad thing considering it represents the backbone of the brand’s recent UK success, accounting for more than 70% of Jaecoo 7 sales in 2025.

Delivering around 200bhp, an 8.5 second sprint to 62mph, 56 miles of electric-only driving, a total range in the region of 745 miles from a single tank of petrol, and a 1,500kg towing capacity, it’s an extremely well-balanced mix of power, economy, and practicality. The Black Luxury Edition simply adds a more exclusive option to a model that has already demonstrated its appeal to both private and business leasing customers.

Addition of hybrid option to Jaecoo 7 range

Alongside the new black-themed flagship, the rest of the model range is also expanding with the introduction of the brand’s first full-hybrid powertrain. The new Jaecoo 7 SHS-H is aimed at drivers who want the efficiency benefits of electrification without the need to plug in.

It uses a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine paired with a self-charging hybrid system, producing 224bhp to deliver a smooth, quiet drive with impressive efficiency. With a 0–62mph time of 8.3 seconds, a top speed of 112mph, and extra-urban economy around 53mpg, it offers a compelling alternative for drivers who want hybrid performance without the need to consider altering the daily routine.

New Jaecoo 7 SHS-H variants will be available with a choice of two trim levels: Pure and Deluxe. Pure trim brings tweed upholstery, a 13.2-inch infotainment screen, wireless smartphone connectivity, dual-zone climate control, and even a refrigerated centre console. Deluxe trim adds eco-leather upholstery, a larger 14.8-inch screen, and an upgraded sound system to an already impressive specification.

These new additions to the lineup arrive at a time when Jaecoo is enjoying one of the strongest UK debuts of any new brand in over a decade, with more than 35,000 registrations since launch giving the company a solid foundation to build from. The introduction of both the Black Luxury Edition and the SHS-H full hybrid suggests that momentum is showing no signs of slowing.
