Look out for the brand-new Jaecoo 8 SHS-P

Published 19th June 2026

The Jaecoo 8 SHS-P is no longer just a headline-grabber from a motor show stand, it’s officially taking to UK roads. First customer deliveries have now begun, marking a major milestone for the brand and giving British drivers their first chance to experience Jaecoo’s new flagship plug-in hybrid SUV in the metal. It’s a significant moment, not least because the Jaecoo 8 now sits above the best-selling Jaecoo 7 and the compact Jaecoo 5, completing a three-model line-up that has grown at remarkable speed.

This is the first time Jaecoo has offered a three-row SUV in the UK, and the 8 SHS-P arrives with two distinct personalities.

The 5+2-seat Luxury model is the more family-focused option, with a flexible cabin layout, multiple ISOFIX points, and the sort of everyday usability that makes life easier on school runs and long weekends away.

The 4+2-seat Executive version takes a different approach, swapping the middle bench for four individual heated, ventilated, and massaging captain’s chairs. It’s a more indulgent setup designed for comfort and refinement, with a calmer, more open feel to the cabin and two occasional-use seats tucked neatly into the rear.

The cabin itself is one of the areas where the Jaecoo 8 feels most like a flagship.

Even in the more family‑focused Luxury version, the sense of space and refinement is impressive, while the Executive’s captain’s chairs and new cognac colourway give the cabin a genuinely upmarket atmosphere that feels more luxury SUV than value‑focused newcomer.

Both versions come with a widescreen digital cockpit, a large central infotainment display, and a clean, horizontal dashboard layout that gives the interior a modern, uncluttered feel. Material quality has taken a noticeable step up compared with the smaller Jaecoo models, with soft‑touch surfaces, ambient lighting, and neatly integrated storage throughout. Higher‑spec models add features such as a panoramic roof, premium audio, and an upgraded climate system that extends to the third row.

Both versions also share the same Super Hybrid System, pairing a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with a 3-mode DHT transmission, a 34.46kWh battery, and all-wheel drive.

The numbers are impressive for a seven-seat SUV of this size, delivering around 420bhp and a 0–62mph time of 5.8 seconds. CO₂ emissions sit at just 14g/km, and the combined driving range stretches beyond 700 miles, giving the Jaecoo 8 the long-distance ability of a diesel with the smoothness and low-emission running of a plug-in hybrid.

There’s also a new level of off-road capability. For the first time on any Jaecoo model, the 8 SHS-P introduces lockable differentials and an adaptive all-terrain response system, broadening its appeal for drivers who want something more adventurous than the typical family SUV.

Prices start from £45,500 for the Luxury and £47,500 for the Executive, and both come with Jaecoo’s seven-year/100,000-mile vehicle warranty plus an eight-year battery warranty. For drivers considering their next family SUV, those details make the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P likely to become a strong contender on the leasing side.

The combination of low CO₂ emissions and long electric-assisted range makes it equally appealing for business or personal leasing, offering both sensibly reasonable monthly payments and lower running costs.

The arrival of the Jaecoo 8 SHS-P marks a new chapter for the brand in the UK. With deliveries now underway and interest continuing to build, it looks set to become one of the most talked-about new plug-in hybrids of the year, and go here for our latest leasing deals on the Jaecoo 8.
