New Fiat three-wheeler for last mile deliveries
Published 10th June 2025
Rather than cargo bikes or powered quadracycles, how about an electric wheeler?
For many years Piaggio has had this market to itself. But not any more.
Say hello to the Fiat Tris.
The rather charming Tris has been designed at Centro Stile in Italy, and is a fully electric vehicle with a 56 miles range. Fiat says it’s created to be an affordable ultra-light commercial vehicle.
What’s more, it is a truly versatile business vehicle, designed to serve a wide range of professional applications. These include urban logistics and last-mile delivery work to mobile businesses and essential transportation services.
Fiat believes the vehicle’s compact dimensions, electric powertrain, and adaptable design make it an ideal solution for congested city environments and fast-growing areas with developing economies.
The design of Tris is modular: it can be ordered as a Flat Bed, Pick-Up and Chassis-Cabin to ensure maximum flexibility. There are no doors so it is easy to jump in and out of.
There is one drawback - at least for the moment. Fiat says the Tris is destined for Africa and the Middle East at first to provide a zero emission micromobility solution.
But, Olivier Francois, Fiat CEO, has hinted that we might be seeing it in Europe (fingers crossed). Speaking at the unveiling of the electric three-wheeler, he said:
“With its debut in the Middle East and Africa, Tris is set to transform last-mile mobility and open new doors to economic empowerment and social inclusion. And we believe its potential goes far beyond — Europe may be next, because this kind of smart, sustainable solution speaks a universal language."
For the time being, then, you’ll have to wait and lease a van from the current range of electric and diesel models in the Fiat Professional line up.
