More reasons to lease the Volvo EX30 Black Edition
Published 30th March 2026
In 2025, almost half (46%) of all new Volvo cars sold worldwide were powered by electricity. This isn’t a surprise in itself. Volvo has made no secret of its intent to focus on the premium EV segment of the market, and it has been working towards that goal for a number of years now. But it seems the Swedish brand is keen to break that 50% mark sooner rather than later, hence the launch of the striking new Volvo EX30 Black Edition.
Volvo has launched the Black Edition variant of its award-winning, all-electric EX30, boasting an eye-catching new look, enhanced equipment levels, and a choice of two trim-levels and two powertrain options.
If you weren’t thinking of leasing an EV, maybe this is the car that will change your mind.
Following the introduction of the Black Edition in 2023 on the XC60, the EX30 becomes the latest model to receive the treatment. Already one of the UK’s best-selling EVs, and building on its popularity for its range, stylish design and quick charging, the compact Volvo EX30 SUV with its Black Edition enhancements is expected to further increase its appeal.
High gloss black highlights
The Black Edition styling can be seen in several exterior details, including the prominent high gloss black 19-inch wheels and tinted rear windows. The front grille, rear Volvo script, and model name badge feature high gloss black details, alongside a colour coordinated roof spoiler and door mirror covers.
As the name suggests, the new EX30 Black Edition is available with one exterior colour, a metallic Onyx Black that sparkles in the sun, and a sporty interior finished in deep blue indigo with upcycled denim trim exclusive to the Black Edition.
The Volvo EX30 Black Edition will be available on Plus and Ultra trim levels across both the Single Motor Extended Range and Twin Motor Performance powertrains.

The Black Edition’s interior boasts Volvo’s remote cabin air monitoring and pre-cleaning feature, a 12.3-inch centre display, and a plethora of driver support systems including advanced sensing technology with up to five radars, five cameras and 12 ultra-sonic sensors continuously monitoring the car’s surroundings to help support the driver. Standard equipment also includes adaptive cruise control, a powered tailgate for convenient access to the load space, and an 11kW On-Board Charger.
If you specify the Ultra trim-level for your new EX30 Black Edition, you can also add a panoramic roof, 360° camera view, Park Pilot Assist, powered front seats, and an upgrade to a 22kW On-Board Charger for added convenience and timesaving.
With a range of up to 295 miles and a 0-62 mph sprint of just 5.3 seconds, the rear-wheel drive Single Motor Extended Range variant of the EX30 Black Edition also features a heat pump to maximise the distance it can travel between charges.
Twin Motor powertrain variants not only introduce more power to the equation, but they also bring all-wheel drive traction and stability as well. The sprint time drops to just 3.6 seconds, and while this does require a sacrifice in range, it will still cover around 279 miles between charges.
Regardless of your chosen powertrain, the Volvo EX30 Black Edition allows for fast charging up to 175kW, meaning a 10-80% charge will take around 28 minutes in either single or twin motor guise.
While it’s not necessarily a new car, the new Volvo EX30 Black Edition does offer new reasons to switch to leasing an EV, and it’s already available in the UK so you could order yours today.
