New BYD Ti 7 brings seven-seat practicality and plug-in performance to the UK

Published 26th August 2026

The announcement of the new BYD Ti 7 heralds the arrival of the brand’s first seven-seat model for the UK, and it’s clearly been designed to appeal to both family buyers and business users who need space, flexibility and low running costs.

It also introduces BYD’s DM-p plug-in hybrid powertrain to the UK for the first time, giving the Ti 7 a blend of strong performance, long electric-only capability and the kind of everyday usability that makes a seven-seater genuinely practical.

For leasing customers, that combination of efficiency and versatility is likely to make it one of the more interesting new arrivals in the segment. And priced from just £47,995, it promises to make a lot of financial sense in all kinds of ways.

The BYD Ti 7 has been designed to make a strong first impression, with the boxy silhouette and chunky, upright look SUV drivers appreciate. Its wide stance, squared-off wheel arches and 20-inch alloys give it a purposeful, confident presence, while the smooth surfaces and contemporary detailing ensure it remains more urban than rugged.

LED lighting features all round, including a dynamic welcome animation in the headlights. Acoustic glass for the windscreen and front windows helps refine the cabin even further, and a full-length panoramic roof brings light into all three rows. Privacy glass from the rear doors back adds to the premium feel as well.

Inside, the Ti 7 leans heavily into comfort and technology.

A huge 15.6-inch touchscreen dominates the dashboard, supported by a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 18-speaker audio system. Dual 50W wireless chargers come as standard, and the cabin is finished with leather upholstery, three-zone climate control and even an in-car refrigerator and drinks warmer between the front seats. It’s a level of equipment that rivals at this price point simply don’t match, and it gives the Ti 7 a premium feel without the premium badge.

Space is another one of the Ti 7’s strengths. The middle row offers plenty of room for knees and heads, with seats that adjust in four directions, and the third row is designed to be genuinely usable rather than an afterthought. Even with all seven seats in place, you still get 126 litres of boot space. Fold the third row flat and you get 970 litres. Fold the middle row down as well and the luggage capacity expands to an impressive 1,830 litres.

That flexibility makes it ideal for large families, airport-transfer operators, and businesses that need a vehicle capable of carrying people and kit without compromise. It’s the sort of versatility that tends to translate well into leasing demand because it suits such a wide range of real-world uses.

Adding to that flexibility is BYD’s DM-p plug-in hybrid drivetrain.

The plug-in hybrid system pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine with dual electric motors to produce around 400bhp, meaning the Ti 7 is unusually quick for a seven-seat SUV. It can reach 0–62mph in 4.8 seconds yet still deliver up to 74 miles on electric power alone thanks to BYD’s 35.6kWh Blade battery.

Full charging specifications will be announced nearer to launch, but the Ti 7’s Blade battery and 74‑mile electric‑only range suggests most drivers will simply charge at home overnight and start each day with a full battery.

For families, that means most daily trips can be completed without having to dip into the contents of the petrol tank. For fleets, it offers meaningful reductions in fuel use and CO₂ output while still delivering long-distance flexibility.

The Ti 7 will be sold exclusively in Excellence AWD specification, meaning every car comes fully loaded. Six exterior colours are available, including Starlight Silver as standard and a choice of metallic and matte finishes for those who want something more distinctive.

Order books are open now, with customer deliveries beginning in January 2027.

Full technical specifications will be confirmed closer to launch, but the headline figures already paint a picture of a seven-seat SUV that’s fast, efficient, well equipped and competitively priced.

For drivers and businesses looking to lease a versatile seven-seater with strong electric capability, leasing the BYD Ti 7 is shaping up to be one of the more compelling new options.
