Cupra reveals Raval, its new electric hatchback

Cupra reveals Raval, its new electric hatchback

Published 7th January 2026

Ahead of its 2026 launch, Cupra has revealed the Raval, an all-new compact electric hatchback. It’s part of the Volkswagen Group’s upcoming Electric Urban Car family.

The Raval will sit beneath the Born in Cupra’s line-up and has been designed as a city-focused EV with a strong performance edge. It will be built in Martorell, Spain, and is expected to start from around €26,000, which equates to roughly £22,000–£23,000 based on current exchange rates.

The Raval uses the Volkswagen Group’s new MEB+ platform and measures just over four metres in length, placing it directly into the core European small-car segment. Cupra will offer the model with two power outputs, both in front-wheel drive.

The new Cupra Raval power options

  • There’s a 155kW (206hp) version with range of around 279 miles;
  • And the sport-focused 166kW (226hp) VZ Extreme version is expected to deliver around 248 miles on a full charge.

Performance has been a key development focus. The Raval features a new generation of Dynamic Chassis Control, progressive steering and enhanced energy recuperation to give it sharper responses at urban speeds. Cupra says the VZ Extreme’s calibration has been tuned for more immediate acceleration and flatter cornering, supported by uprated dampers and ESC Sport settings. Wheel sizes of up to 19 inches will be offered.

Choice of three models in Raval range

Three versions will be available at launch.

  • The Dynamic model provides the entry point with the 155kW powertrain.
  • The Dynamic Plus adds Matrix LED headlights, additional driver-assistance systems, a 12-speaker Sennheiser audio system and a set of one-piece bucket seats.
  • The VZ Extreme sits at the top of the range with the higher-output motor and Cupra’s most performance-oriented chassis settings.

Inside, the Raval adopts Cupra’s latest digital cockpit and touchscreen interface, along with new sustainability-focused trim materials. The cabin layout is designed around improving forward visibility and providing more space than the car’s footprint suggests.

The Raval’s launch marks a significant step in Cupra’s expansion. It is one of four compact EVs being developed by the Volkswagen Group for release over the next two years as the company targets growth in the lower-cost electric vehicle segment. We’ll be bringing you Cupra Raval leasing prices closer to the car’s launch in 2026.
